Samsung currently acting as a logistics service provider in Tilburg
Samsung, one of the world's largest electronics manufacturers, will be working in Tilburg as a logistics service provider.
Samsung, one of the world’s largest electronics manufacturers, will be working in Tilburg as a logistics service provider. Samsung SDS, a subsidiary of the electronics giant, opens a distribution center with a surface of 31,000 m2 on the industrial estate Loven III.
The Samsung SDS distribution center in Tilburg is the fourth logistics operation in Europe that is fully deployed for external customers. In a few years, Samsung SDS has grown into a major logistics player worldwide. Around 10 percent of the flow of goods now consists of products from external customers.
“Logistics is crucial for our business,” says Robert van der Waal, responsible for the logistics activities of Samsung SDS in Europe. “That is why we have been taking care of our own logistics process for a long time. The combination of years of operational logistics experience and our software development power ensures solutions that exceed the level of many existing logistics service providers. We are happy to make that knowledge and expertise available to third parties.”
Edwin Zonder, Senior Project Manager with BOM Foreign Investments was closely involved with the arrival of Samsung SDS in Tilburg: “We are increasingly seeing large companies from the Far East making knowledge and skills available to third parties. That is a great development that we would like to contribute to. That Samsung SDS has picked Tilburg is not really a surprise. It’s for a reason that the Tilburg-Waalwijk region has been recently chosen as a logistics hotspot of the year by a professional jury.”
